Cambridge, Maryland… small town on the Chesapeake bay. Once home to canneries and seafood-packing houses, Cambridge now claims an ‘up-and-coming main street’ with restaurants and galleries, not to mention the fancy riverfront Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay, a good base from which we explored Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, about ten miles south. It was also great to visit the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historic Park and its Museum. Fantastic tribute to an extraordinary people.
Our roadtrip from NYC to Maryland included putting our car on a Ferry from Cap May to Lewes, enjoying the Jersey and Maryland shores along the way. And even spotting dolphins.

The story:
Swim was a nightmare. My swimsuit tore up and I had to swim with a dragging suit… in muddy water… I just want to forget this mishap forever !!!!
Bike was fun. The wind was very strong but course was flat. I was shooting for a 5:20 bike time but training was not there… At the end, the wind got me very tired and the last 20mi were a drag…
Run was cool (but hot). The four loops in town were energizing. Lots of folks on their doorsteps providing water hoses, music, claps… Everything I like about a Ironman race.
All that was left was to push to go below 11hrs. Still happy to finish and get closer to IM finish #20 !
