Tuesday, January 3rdDowntown. Yesterday, we went to the "bodies", an exhibition where human body specimens are preserved through polymer preservation (liquid silicone rubber that is hardened). The end result is a rubberized specimen, preserved to the cellular level, showing the complexity of the bones, muscles, nerves, blood vessels, and organs. Quite incredible.

Wednesday, December 21thUsually, I don't take medication. I really think that the occidental world would be far better off if everybody didn't resort to pills everytime they have a little problem, like a cough, or a a flu. It is a really bad habit no to let the human body heal by itself. If we are the strongest animal species on Earth, it is because we're adaptative. And I don't want the human race to rely on pills and treatments. Illnesses are a necessary disagrement every once a while. Darwin proved it. Of course, when things are getting out of hand, then medecine has to come in. Is a flu or a cough something out of hand? Scarcely. So when I went to the pharmacy this morning, I hope that I didn't break this golden rule. My paratrooper instructor used to tell me "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger". That's what I firmly believe. That's my motto. We'll see if I'm right during Millau 2006... |

Thursday, December 1stSometimes I look at old pictures and I remember how nice the past was. On Sunday, I've had some discussions with Marcel, an X2001 who publishes each year a compilation of our best athlectics moments. He is finishing the 2005 compilationnow, so I needed to send him some nice pictures. That's why I scanned this one of last year's Paris Marathon. Because I find it really beautiful. But it also reminds me that this year, I don't have huge goals as regards competitions, appart from a marathon. I hope that I will soon get my motivation back. My new goal is the the international Mont-Blanc Ultra trail. 45hours max, 158kms, three countries, around the Mont-Blanc, 8500m+. Chamonix - Courmayeur - Champex - Chamonix. Magic. Summer 2006 maybe. |
